Software Engineer at Cato Networks

Cato Networks, a company that combines networking and security in one cloud platform, needs a Software Engineer for its Networking Group in the Tel Aviv area. The job centres on the backend of Cato's own cloud-based networking and security management products. You will also build processes that collect and analyse live network statistics, events and very large volumes of data, and that keep working as they grow.

What you will do

• Handle backend work from start to finish, from large-scale data processing through to the design of efficient microservices.
• Build and improve services that need to be fast and to scale.
• Make the current infrastructure more reliable, more secure and more scalable.
• Work side by side with colleagues in Product, Data, Security and UX.
• Look into new technologies and bring in the ones that make the products better.

What you need

• At least 4 years of practical backend development.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot skills.
• Experience consuming and building RESTful APIs.
• A basic grasp of networking, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and common protocols.
• Thorough knowledge of OOP and of sound engineering principles.
• Experience with both NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and relational ones (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Familiarity with microservices and with Docker and K8S.
• Good problem-solving habits, the ability to teach yourself, and a team-minded approach.
• A B.Sc. in Computer Science or an equivalent.

Nice to have

• Go.
• GraphQL.
• AWS.
• A proven background in big data applications.
• Front-end and JavaScript experience. React and TypeScript count as a big plus.
• Hands-on use of AI tools, for example Claude or Codex.
