The role

Via builds software and services that public transit agencies use to run their networks, and its automated dispatch system handles rides for millions of passengers and drivers. It is hiring a Senior Algorithms Developer for its Tel Aviv office. You would turn messy operational problems into optimization that runs in real time, working with large and varied data, and your results would show up directly in how efficient and reliable the service is.

What you will do

  • Build mathematical models of the competing demands placed on Via's system, so decisions can be made quickly and at scale.
  • Write online algorithms that get the most out of the system while keeping service quality high for riders.
  • Design efficient, scalable algorithms that hold up under heavy real-world operating conditions.
  • Work with engineering, product and operations colleagues to turn algorithmic findings into solutions that work in practice.

What you need

  • A PhD or M.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a similar subject.
  • A strong research background and hands-on algorithm development.
  • 3 to 4 or more years of putting algorithms into production-scale systems.
  • The ability to find what really matters in a complicated problem and model it.
  • Hands-on coding in Python or a similar language.
  • Curiosity, quick learning, and good communication and teamwork.

Pay and benefits

  • Stock options on top of a base salary.
  • Health insurance, discounted for family members.
  • Hybrid working from the Midtown office in central Tel Aviv, near the light rail and train station.
  • Your choice of 10bis or Cibus for meals, Freefit and other sports lessons, happy hours and team events.
  • Career development opportunities.
