The role
Taboola, the performance advertising company, is hiring a Bid Ops Optimization Engineer for the Optimization team in its Tel Aviv office. This is a temporary maternity cover that may become a permanent full-time job. You help Header Bidding publishers stay healthy and grow: you pick up cases escalated from Account Managers and monitoring alerts, work out why a publisher is underperforming, correct the problem and put a value on the result. You also look for improvements yourself by studying health KPIs, and team up with Product, R&D and Algorithms on making single publishers and the whole bidder perform better.
What you will do
- Take escalated Header Bidding cases all the way through: diagnose with data, correct the configuration and measure the uplift.
- Look for issues that repeat across publishers, such as floors, blocking rules, ad sizes and shared presets, rather than only reacting to cases.
- Speak for the technical side with Account Managers and sometimes publishers, explaining what happened, what changed and what it is worth.
- Present what you find and what you advise to the business side, and help Sales put technical optimization into commercial terms.
- Join client pitch calls as the technical expert, explaining what is needed to work with Taboola.
- Work with SQL on Vertica, plus Tableau, Grafana, Salesforce and AI tools that speed up documentation and analysis.
What you need
- 4 or more years in a technical customer-facing job, such as in ad tech, programmatic, solutions engineering or publisher operations.
- Strong SQL: tracing a metric change to its root cause and checking your query for double counting.
- Debugging live publisher pages with browser DevTools, including the DOM, console errors, timing, and the bidding traffic shown in the Network tab.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JS: reading page source, finding where an ad unit or widget renders, and styling or adjusting a widget.
- The ability to explain technical findings to Account Managers and publishers, leading with the business impact.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Practical understanding of RTB, Prebid and Header Bidding, including how floors, timeouts, ad sizes, SSPs and bid traffic behave.
- Working out from wrapper code or Prebid.js configuration how a page calls the bidder.
- Running training, or making internal tools and dashboards for non-technical users.
- AI-assisted workflows or building agents.
