Software Engineering Manager at Riskified

The role

Riskified, whose AI platform protects online merchants from fraud and chargebacks, wants a Software Engineering Manager in Tel Aviv. You would lead experienced engineers building real-time decision systems that guard merchants against abuse such as refund and return fraud, an area important to the company's expansion. You work closely with Product, Data Science, operations, Analytics and data platform teams, and are expected to care about reliable, well-designed distributed systems and to use AI in the product, in development and in running the team.

The stack

Kubernetes, Node.js and TypeScript (NestJS), Kafka, Avro, gRPC, AWS, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, Redis, Databricks and Claude Code.

What you will do

• Lead the team in shipping high-quality products, and answer for the health of real-time services the business depends on.
• Grow the product to handle more merchants, integrations and use cases.
• Shape the roadmap with Product Managers, and make concrete plans out of business opportunities.
• Partner with data platform, analytics and Data Science teams so models and data pass reliably between research and production.
• Agree dependencies and priorities with other teams, among them the operations teams serving merchants.
• Find and introduce AI tools and ways of working that raise the team's output and strengthen the product.
• Mentor senior engineers, trust them with real ownership and develop the next technical leaders.
• Advise management and customers on practical business problems.

What you need

• 3 or more years managing engineers who run production services (required).
• 7 or more years of hands-on development of large-scale backend distributed systems or microservices (required).
• Experience of leading senior engineers, and enough technical depth to guide architecture and design.
• A strong record of working with many stakeholders, especially Product and Data Science.
• Proven interest in new AI tools, and having used them to improve work or products.
• Agile working with full CI/CD and a DevOps culture.
• Cloud-native microservices, SaaS and event-driven architectures.
• Strong communication, including explaining technical subjects to non-technical people.
• A Computer Science B.Sc., or equivalent experience or another equivalent degree.

Nice to have

• A background in payments, e-commerce, fraud or risk.
• Data-intensive or ML-driven products, working alongside Data Science.
• Large enterprise customers.
