Senior Software Engineer II, Payments at Forter

The role

Forter's Payments team in Tel Aviv is building a smart payments product that picks the best route for each transaction, so merchants get more payments authorized. It is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to help design this critical production infrastructure from the start. The initiative is at an early stage, so you would be a founding member with a real say in architecture, and you would own your work from design and coding through deployment and monitoring. You also work with customers to understand what they need.

What you will do

• Create new payment systems from scratch, and improve and connect existing ones.
• Design and build production infrastructure that stands up to critical workloads.
• Lead technical initiatives in the team, working with colleagues and stakeholders across Forter.
• Work across a varied set of technologies and programming languages.
• Develop features with product managers and other engineers, guiding decisions with your technical knowledge.
• Turn customers' needs into useful payment solutions.
• Mentor other engineers.
• Investigate and fix difficult production problems.
• Take the initiative whenever you see a way to improve systems or workflows.

What you need

• 6 or more years building and maintaining complex software.
• 6 or more years of backend work focused on production systems.
• At least 1 year of JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with critical systems that need high availability, reliability and scalability.
• Familiarity with browser, networking and security concepts.
• A strong interest in product, production and growth, and in technical problems that directly affect users and operations.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem solving, with a sense of ownership.
• Professional-level spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• A lot of experience with Node.js.
• Leading initiatives across teams.
• Frontend, React or mobile work.
• Significant experience with MySQL, Redis or Elasticsearch.
• Earlier payments companies or projects.
• Building enterprise SaaS products.

Working at Forter

The work model is hybrid, with at least 3 days a week in the office for people near a main hub. Forter encourages people to apply even if they do not match every item listed.
